Hi

Just looking for positive stories regarding treatments for Esophagus Cancer that do not involve surgery.

Dad has recently been diagnosed, but we are still waiting more information/plan forward. Although we have been told surgery will not be an option, we are hopeful other options will help.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi my partner was told the same he on his 5th cylcle of chemo and immune thrapey. He had a scan just after 1st cylce and it had shurnk he juat had a scan again and now awaiting results before any treatment he coudnt eat and graually he can eat again finds some things tricky still.

We are still waiting to go for an ultrasound endoscopy to get more biopsies to determine type before being offered types of treatment. Hope plan can come together soon!

  • My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 Oesophageal cancer on valentine's day 2024.Spread to lymph nodes and pelvis so palliative care only. She had 8 cycles of Capox together with Immunotherapy (Pembro).1st scan after starting treatment showed a reduction in all areas and subsequent scans have continued to show a reduction. On the last 3 scans they have found no evidence of disease.Immunotherapy will continue until April 2026.She is eating normally, exercising and living a normal lifePrayPrayMuscleMuscle

  • Hi

I had squamous cell carcinoma, mid oesophagus, T2N0M0. I didn't have the operation. I had 4 Cisplatin chemo by IV at hospital and Capecitebain chemo tablets twice daily for 12 weeks and also 25 radiotherapy which started on the same day as the 3rd Cisplatin chemo. It worked well for me. I'm due an endoscopy and CT scan in Sept, hopefully still all clear.

    Take care,

    Amanda

  • Hi I could not have surgery either so i had chemoradiotherapy for 5 weeks , That was over a year ago and i am still going strong i can eat anything i want with no trouble i have no pain at all .

Heres hoping that things go well for you

  • That'd exactly what my treatment is Amanda. I'm about halfway through it. It's very reassuring to know that it worked well for you  and hopefully you'll stay clear.
