Thé battle between constipation, diarrhoea and nausea

Hi! Hope everyone is doing okay and that other scheduled operation went well according to plan.

i felt like I was doing really well  but am finding myself having difficulty with the above. The anti nausea medication is ok. I just feel so tired and can’t get things working right. Anybody have any tricks to regulate things? This is the second cycle and nothing tastes good.

  • Hi PJR sorry to hear you are not feeling so good. This second round has been really tough for me too  and I have been pretty unwell for the last couple of days. I did contact the cancer  hospital last time when I had the same mix of stomach problems as you and they suggested taking a day off the chemo tablets to reset. It might be worth asking. It did the trick for me. I have this awful cough which gets me down and I am absolutely not enjoying food at the moment. I do feel a little better today so I am hoping that I have turned a corner! 

  • Oh, Nan I am sorry you are having it rough too. U just tried the coffee Ensure plus but couldn’t get it down. 

  • The other thing I am finding helps is ice lollies or just ice cubes. I am definitely better than yesterday which isn’t saying a lot but we have to cling to any positives don’t we? I have one more week on the tablets before a welcome rest. 

  • Looking forward to that same week off, too. And yes, the u e lollies help a lot. I’ve been having the orange juice ones and some mint magnums. Are you having any of the protein drinks, Nan?

  • I just can’t get on with the drinks at all. Drinking anyway is an issue with the cough!! Mini magnums are a life saver! 

  • Are you managing to keep your weight up without the drinks?

  • I have lost a couple more pounds which is disappointing! Last time I was eating much better towards the end so I am hoping that will happen again. My hubby counts my calories each day but the last 2 have been woeful. It’s hard when you are never hungry isn’t it? Are you keeping your weight stable? 

  • I was doing pretty well before but seem to keep losing yet I feel like îam eating okay- eggs, pasta cheese magnums popsicles ginger biscuits toasted waffles smoothies. Mostly just eating what appeals to me and trying to make sure I’m drinking enough fluids. My husband is big on those protein drinks but he hasn’t tasted them!

  • Same here. They are revolting -even the chocolate one is horrible. Someone suggested mixing ice cream in but I haven’t tried it. 

  • One suggestion- Nature Valley Full Mix protein bars are pretty good. I personally like the one with peanut butter and cranberries but they also do one with blueberries - if you can eat peanut butter…:)
