Sorry for this but I need to sound off.
Dad got stent in last week after a few complications they managed to get part of it in but the following day he ended up in hospital again as heart racing and stent had slipped so they had to pull it up.They kept him in for 4 days and 24 hours later back in as feeding tube came out.
As hospital was busy the hole had closed over and waiting to see if the can put a new tube in next Friday .
Dad weighs 37 kg had a blood transfusion if 2 units last week they let him home last night as it's Easter and back this Friday.
He's not eating anything as swallowing still not great after the stent.
In the meantime it has spread the the lungs and Dr reckons few weeks ,short months.
It's heartbreaking for us but he is so angry now and hates the world and keeps shutting us out.
Which makes it harder to deal with.Hes so nasty and says really hurtful things and I know he's frightened and my heart goes out to him.
We are frightened too anyone else going thru this.
Any advice at all.
Thanks again for listening xxx
Hi Kaz
((Hugs))) so very sorry to read this, I am heartbroken for you all, I can only imagine how you are all feeling and coping at this time, your poor Dad, to keep having these knock backs must be extremely difficult for him.
I have no words of advise, I just wanted you to know I am hear, and listening and understand fully the need for you to sound off.. please feel free to sound off whenever.
I really hope the feeding tube can be replaced for him, this must be such a traumatic experience for him and all your family.... So sorry.
Thinking of you all

Hi Kaz,
my mother had a metal stent about 10 days ago & like your poor dad she still found it hard to swallow.
So I had a word with our hospice nurse. "Make sure to drink plenty of hot/warm fluids because they cause the stent to expand with the heat. Also give 2 x 4 doses of soluble paracetamol, do this even when there isn't any pain because it has anti inflaming properties, so the sore Oesophagus wall will calm down & become temporarily wider. And combine the 2 methods, because swallowing may be better".
We have had only 2 days doing this, but mum is finding it easier to drink liquid foods & even dunked biscuits.
Also, if you haven't heard of it, a liquid food called Ensure is packed with nutrients, it comes in 200 ml bottles, & many flavours. These can sustain & even add weight if you can manage to drink 4 to 5 bottles a day. Ask about the Abbot Nurses who supply this.
I feel utterly sorry for what you are going through, & my mother's OC has also spread to the lungs with no cure, 9 to 18 months left. So I feel your pain & anguish. And I truly hope this advice helps, Your dad is totally frustrated & frightened which comes across as anger, I'm positive he doesn't mean to be nasty. It's his outlet valve.
Best wished to you & your dad,
regards,
Graeme.
Hi again Kaz,
I re read my post to you & I wanted to make sure I didn't put this the wrong way around.
The soluble paracetamol should be given as 2 tablets 4 times a day.
Did not want you to give 4 twice a day.
Regards,
Graeme.
