Hi.
I am 10 years post diagnosis and surgery and made an amazing recovery. However, in December I was diagnosed with lung cancer. The biopsy confirmed secondary cancer which the consultants had never seen after such a long time. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience. Luckily after another op I am now in remission (again)
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to read that you've just been diagnosed with secondary lung cancer 10 years after you recovered from oesophageal cancer. It seems very unfair.
I don't have the experience you're looking for but noticed that you hadn't had any replies yet. If you haven't already, you could type 'secondary lung cancer' into the search bar in this group as it does bring up some previous posts which you could have a look through.
You might also want to join and post in the secondary lung cancer group as you might find some people in that group with a similar experience to yourself. If you'd like to join just click on the link I've created which will take you straight there.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Wow, that’s so unfair. A secondary after 10 years! I’m not sure that it was any consolation to hear that the surgeon had never seen a secondary appear after such a time.
I am 6 years post Ivor Lewis. So your story makes me more determined to make the most of life as you can never be sure what lies ahead.
But it’s good that they were able to operate and you are now clear again. I hope you make another amazing recovery and live a long and trouble free life from here on.
Counting the days, making every day count.

,Hi, as you say seemed very un fair at the time, but I was operated on in April during pandemic had wonderful treatment and have made a full recovery. To anyone who has had these illnesses I would say don’t worry about all the things they tell you can’t do, let your body guide you we are all different. I play two rounds of golf a week, do long walks and eat a varied diet. Positive thinking is the way forward, concentrate on the cans and not the can nots. Wishing everybody good health in their futures.
