Hello to everyone.
Today I had my 5 year check up and that is the last one as they will now class me as cancer free. I only write this now due to the fact that when I was first diagnosed with cancer of the Oesophagus I joined the Macmillan group looking for answers and help as we all do but I also wanted to read story's of people who were 3/4 or 5 years post operation and there good news as I wanted something to look forward to.
I always looked forward and positive as much as I could and here I am now at 5 years.!!. Everyone will deal with there own battles in there own way and no one can tell anyone the correct way to do that, but I hope in my own small way by putting this on today it helps give people hope in the knowledge that there is life after cancer and that anything is possible. All my very best wishes to each and every one of you David.x.x.

That's so good of you to share this momentous milestone. That’s a great achievement, due in no small way, I’m sure, to your positivity.
Just like you, I have been positive, right from my diagnosis six years ago. I did have moments of doubt but most of the time I was sure I was going to survive. It wasn’t so much that I was going to fight and win, it was more, simply, a belief that I would survive.
Today I celebrated 2,402 days cancer free and I’m grateful for each additional day.
Counting the days, making every day count.

Hi David, that's great news to get the all clear. I'm about 4 weeks away from being 4 years post surgery. I was due a check up in June but I haven't heard from the hospital,so I assumed that due to the virus only essential appointments are getting done. Good luck for the future and kind regards, Frank.
Great news David
And Brent, Frank & Jackie !!
My 3 year anniversary yesterday !! I saw my Oncologist post CT scan checkup in July and saw my surgeon last month. All ok
Keep well all. Stay safe and strong. Thanks for helping me in my journey
All the best
Pete
