Hi all, hope you are all as good as you can be. I am almost 4 months post op from Ivor Lewis oesophagectomy,I am currently on a research program for immunotherapy & have 1 more treatment to go. So far I've been doing OK,my weight has finally steadied & am waiting on a second dilation . Yesterday I started getting pains in my stomach, which initially I thought maybe was trapped wind, after a sleepless night as pains were coming & going i then had severe constipation, which I have taken milk of magnesia & now a senna tablet as the pain is still there & very uncomfortable, so much so I haven't been able to eat anything today. I have been sick twice today aswell. I have had dumping before but this seems so much worse & has lasted all day. I did go heavy on the carbs yesterday,a wrap for lunch & a few chips with half slice of b&b in the evening. Was wondering if anyone else has had this,or should I be calling my CNS?

Thanks in advance

Sharon :-)

Hi Sharon, it's worth giving your nurse a call if things haven't improved by Monday. I've never been bothered by severe abdominal pains and I've never been bothered with constipation. It's my understanding that constipation builds up over days, not hours. Have you looked at the benefits of creating a healthy microbiome of good guy bacteria? The  general medical professionals don't really know much about it but there's lots of information about it on the net. Good luck and kind regards Frank.

Hi,  I've just joined. Yeah, I've had the abdominal pains, constipation, diarhea and the dumping. Its been over a year since my oesophogectomy and I still have the occasional 'dumping'. Whereas it was every few days to begin with, its now just occasionally. So it does get better in time. I find that sweet things will cause it but sometimes it happens for no particular reason.

I think that after this operation one needs a lot of patience (and stamina!)

Hope things have improved for you after your post.
