Has anyone on here had a stent fitted to the oesophagus after surgery, I’ve had 10 plus stretches and none of them worked so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem
thanks in advance
Hi Chris
My husband had his oesophagectomy back in February, and suffered a stricture afterwards, he had two balloon dilations however the latter resulted in a perforation which put him back in hospital.
We are thinking that the next offer will be a stent and would welcome any information/experience you can give us of your experience?
When you say none of them have worked have they not stayed in place or not had the desired effect to stretch the oesophagus at all?
Thanks
Kathie
Sorry for the delay , I’ve not had the stent fitted yet I’m still in two minds about it , have been told it’s dangerous and could fall into stomach but it might be my only option, the stent is biodegradable so it will go away by its self but I’m still not sure but I can’t eat any solid foods my gullet is only 5mm in diameter at the moment but I’m scared to have it done ,
sorry can’t be anymore help
regards Chris
