Hello,

Thanks once again for all the help you have given me with my brother-in-laws problems.  I finally have some updates as he has had some tests and scans and is in hospital at the moment.  It has been a long time getting there but now that his consultant is involved it seems we are getting somewhere.  I did say to them to get in touch with the consultant in the first place but, as I think I explained they will only do things in their own way and will not take advice and since November have only been seeing their GP and having scans etc at a different hospital.  He has been for two scans at said hospital where the technician told him twice there were no pleural effusions, in fact refused to do a scan last Tuesday because she said there was no fluid but apparently there are now he has had scans at the main hospital!  So we now have a diagnosis of:  HIatus Hernia, Enlarged Hilar Node which could be an infection, pancreatic calcification/ pancreatitis. and pleural effusions.  He has gone down in weight from over 12 stones to just around 11 stones can neither eat nor drink without being sick and unable to do anything.  He went into hospital a couple of weeks ago when they re-hydrated him and then sent him home and has gone back in again on Sunday to be rehydrated and then have more scans and tests yesterday.  After the tests and scans they have stopped all his medication and they think that some of this could be to do with with his heart.  I am pretty sure that pleural effusions can be caused by heart problems and the associated tiredness and low blood pressure can all be a result.  So here's hoping things can get better from now on as it is my sister's birthday today.

Thanks for all your help,
