My Cancer Road (revisited)

Going through my files on the computer I came across something I wrote six years ago. I don't remember writing it, so the words may not be (wholly) mine, but I hope those of you just starting down this road find inspiration and hope.

I became a cancer victim

I am a cancer patient

I will be a cancer fighter

I hope to be a cancer survivor

I will not travel this road alone

Behind me I will have

• The tireless efforts of researchers
• The knowledge and skill of the doctors, surgeons and nurses
• The help and information of MacMillan and other support organisations
• The love and care of my closest family
• The practical help of friends and neighbours
• The prayers of those who believe
• The words of support;  the “likes” and “shares” of friends, friends of friends, colleagues and acquaintances – the number of which is overwhelming
