Am I in the right place?

Dear I am sorry to hear of your father’s diagnosis and prognosis but respect his decisions regarding treatment. You may find it useful to join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group and the carers only group to get some support for yourself. Also you may find some articles you might find useful to read in the end of life forum, even though you can’t join that part of the forum you can still read the posts. Prognosis is not an exact science anymore so try not to focus too much on timescales, with the right palliative care patients often have a better quality of life and outlive their prognosis so put your efforts into just giving your dad as much normality as you can given your circumstances.

Sorry you have found yourself here Simon12345  Dad was diagnosed as advanced in April 2018 and told that they could do nothing other than offer him a stent.  90 years old with other health related problems but he is still here 20 months later and he doesn't appear to be in a rush to go anywhere else. 

The stent did wonders for dad and he went from 8 and a half stone back up to eleven and a half stone within 6 months.

A prognosis can't be exact and all I can say is make the most of any time you have with him and respect his wishes.  Stay positive and that may help your dad.  Hope he surprises everyone and does well like my dad has.

Thank you so much for your email, your father sounds like a very brave and very strong man.my father is having the stent put in next week and I'm hoping it improves everything for him, he isn't able to eat anything at the moment.
