Hi everyone, my husband had his esophageal removal surgery 8th Dec and is doing well. We have first post surgery appt with mdt team next week then an oncology appt the week after. They mentioned having immunotherapy treatment after surgery a while before his surgery. Just wondering what people's experiences of that are what will likely be offered. Does anyone know if it'll be like the chemo via iv or do they offer tablets? I know it may depend on individual but just wondering what he will likely be offered.
I have had 2 doses of immunotherapy to go along with my chemo and have had no side affects with it, and the nurse said that its a game changer for a lot of people. I am having the treatment because they said to operate to remove my tumour would only have a 20% chance of being successful.
hi, i had the op then was put onto monthly iv drips of immunotherapy back in the cancer unit, apart from some skin issues, and being a bit tired, and mentally dealing with going back in there where it all started, its doable, dont have any other tablets except thyroid as thats gone a bit doo lally. still anxious and up and down but that seems par for the course. let us know what they decide, op was jan 8th 2025, immunotherapy started march, nivolumab, wishing you both all the best
