Hi
My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 OC with a 20 cm tumor high up in the osophogeus. Now in cancer ward as developed infection. Eating semi solids. Ensure shakes.
Oncologist seems keen on having gastro put a stent in as in his words the chemo tablets are 'chunky' and may be difficult to swallow. My own research indicates that chemotherapy and immunotherapy(recommended by oncologist), can be administered by IV
Can anyone please help! Thanks
hi i didnt have the same staging, but had a jej feeding tube into my small bowel to help with getting some weight on when i couldnt swallow anything, and before using my stomach to recreate the oesophagus. so i had all my medication in liquid form, which was a god send, i just syringed it in, along with a bottle 1500 calories fed via the tube and food pump. definately was a life saver, although initially i was very much "i can manage", which i blatantly couldnt whilst having chemo/radiotherapy treatment prior to the op. chemo was via cannula, now on immunotherapy, which again iv via cannula, when they can find a vein!!. god the shakes are something else to manage!! not sure if this helps, but there will definately be someone as part of this family that no one wanted to join on here that would have already gone through this, so this is definately the best forum for help, support, honest advice. i had no knowledge of this cancer when i was diagnosed July last year (female), so this site was a god send.
take care jules
