Evening all,
We are about to begin Week 9 of this nightmare with dad, 8th week in hospital.
4 biopsies later - no cancer cells found - however looks cancerous and has grown 1cm in about 6 weeks. No treatments available until biopsies can confirm.
Anyway - since his last endoscopy about 2 weeks ago - dad has been unable to swallow at all. We are under the impression his esophagus is now closed due to the mass.
He is understandably very miserable and uncomfortable - all he wants is a nice cold glass of water - and not to sick it back up!
Do you think it would be a reasonable request that the GI team try a stent for dad??
Thanks
Hi Moon3. So sorry to read about how your Dad is having such problems. He certainly needs nutrition but I am not sure from your note how he is currently obtaining this. There are other options besides a stent. Obviously you need to discuss with his MDT your concerns because they must be addressing this issue especially as he is an inpatient. I do hope you see some improvement soon in his condition.
