Hello
I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.
The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.
The change for me is from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry . I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about? My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.
I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!
What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful
Hi Cool Blue
How you getting on my friend. I see they have adjusted your feeding tube amount of hopefully that will help you. I'm afraid it's going to be a long haul for all of us but guess we have to patient and listen to our bodies.
The cancer consultants and nurses are amazing and they seem to have many options to help us in our recovery. I'm self employed and want to get back to work but certainly not going to rush it.
Stay positive my friend and I'm always here for you
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Jennie
Yes it is a long road for us all. I'm a bit ahead of you and I have no pain from the surgery. The eating is getting better but it's the chemo that wipes me out so depending on how this round goes I may or may not do round 4 but will obviously take the guidance from my oncologist who I will see April 18th.
Take care and please let me know how things go, we are all in this together
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Dean,
Yes, had my first night last night with my new feeding tube regime. Ran the pump from 10pm to 3am so it was lovely to have a few hours after that without it whirring away on my bedside table. I have also been given Fortisips to help boost my oral calorie intake. Dieticians will continue to monitor my weight but, if everything goes ok over the next couple of weeks, then the next step could be having my JEJ tube removed. After PICC line and all the drips and drains post surgery, it feels like ages since I had no tubes coming out of me! I’m sure you’re looking forward to finally getting your PICC line out for the last time…
Cool Blue
Hi Cool Blue
Glad you are fairing better my friend. Yes I will be so relieved to have the Picc line out. In for round 3 chemo today with first drug attached.
Have managed to get final round delayed for an extra week as first two have been bad. I may not even do round 4 depending on what my consultant says next week. I would like to do all four as it obviously gives you the best chance, just don't know if my body can take it.
It will be good if your feeding tube comes out soon as I can imagine it's very awkward.
Stay strong ok ,we got this
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Dean
How are you? 3rd round completed Dean, that is really good although you are probably feeling awful atm.
I saw the consultant today, I will start my mop up around the 7th May, so 10wks post up, I will start where I finished 75% and he will assess with me after each round, after the second round I will get an extra week before the 3rd, ( my request ). He said that it is a fine balance as the Chemo has already done its job along with the surgery, so it is important to assess at each round. The is a question mark with my L hand and foot with continued numbness? Not looking forward to restarting but being able to chat on here really helps.
Hope your ok and the Chemo hasn’t knocked you for six again, thinking of you, take care Dean.
Jennie
Hello Cool blue
How are you doing with less food through the tube? What food are you able to eat now.
Do you have any numbness with your hands and feet, I saw the Oncologist today, he feels that if mine was related to the Chemo it is usually the tips of fingers and toes, mine is only left hand, 3 fingers and side of hand, left foot heel and toes? Likely more op related?
I will start my mop up chemo around the 7th May, so 10wks post up, I will start where I finished 75% and he will assess with me after each round, after the second round I will get an extra week before the 3rd, ( my request ). Like you I am not looking forward to it but do feel in good care with team.
How are your walks going?
best wishes Jennie

Do you work, although I can work from home I have decided to stay of until the end of Chemo, I enjoy my job, mentally good for me but I feel I come first with this stage of the journey.
Have the flood waters subsided?
Best wishes Jennie
Hi Dean,
That sounds like a good idea being able to delay final round for an extra week as I know, in my pre-op FLOT, I was still feeling poorly from Round 3 when I went in to receive Round 4. That’s something I’ll have to discuss at my next oncology meeting on 29th April. I see that Jennie has a start date for her post-op chemo of 7th May. That’s less than 4 weeks away. I can’t imagine being ready to start mine by then but I’ll probably ask for a delay anyway as it’s my 60th birthday on the 6th May. This has definitely not been how I anticipated spending the months leading up to it!! Hope your Round 3 side effects aren’t too brutal. Your finish line is only weeks away so hang on in there buddy.
