My husband had surgery 3 weeks ago we are both finding it hard to deal with we know it will take time but everything at the moment is hard

We have no close family or friends so we are relaying on each other which is  very difficult.

Can anybody gives us any ideas on what to eat that would be tasty for him as cheese and mash potato is getting very boring.

  • My dad loves soft eggs (with light toast very well chewed and washed down with Coca Cola), M&S trifle, thick yogurts, chocolate custard, custard tarts, the middle from quiches, Lucozade, middles of jacket potatoes with loads of butter, egg mayonnaise, Ambrosia semolina, porridge with Ensures mixed in, Blue Stilton cheese. Just some suggestions. I hope he finds some tasty favourites. x

  • Dad can also manage just about plain fish in sauce. Eg. M&S Haddock Mornay. And their plain macaroni cheese, with extra cheese on top.

  • Hi

it is hard but it does get better it just takes longer than any of us would like.

I relied on my husband who kept serving up food even when I said I didn’t want to eat Joy

Puddings can be good, ice cream, yogurt, cheesecake etc.  I started looking forward to my afternoon ice cream.  eggs, cereal,, veg curries, pasta. I was told to avoid baked beans due to the skins but I eat loads with cheese on top. I also had the ‘big soups’ it felt like eating a bit more than normal soups.  It is trial and error but use sauces and gravy to soften and cut things up small.

A few ready meals that are soft are good even if he can’t eat all of it.

Good luck and it will pass.
