Hi,
My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 in June. He only had 2 cycles of chemo which wasn’t working so no chemo since aug/sept. He was managing relatively well, not eating a great deal but able to walk up and downstairs, shower himself etc. Last week he started being sick, lots of phlegm (he has a stent). Apart from stomach pills he was only taking 5ml of 10mg Morphine at night to help him sleep. The GP advised a syringe pump to help with sickness. He had this put in and the prescription was 5ml morphine, 12.5mg levomepromazine. About 12 hours after it was fitted he was totally out of it, no idea where he was and unable to take a few steps without the help of 2 people, he was basically sleeping all the time. The levomepromazine has been reduced to 6.25mg yesterday so will find out better today if that has helped. Has anyone any advice about this? Can’t believe the change in him in the space of a few days so I’m assuming it’s the meds rather than progression of his cancer. Thanks.
Hi Ralove
So sorry for the late response to your post,
I do not know enough about the medication and doses given to be able to comment on that, but I am sorry to read that the chemo was not suitable for Dad, have they considered any alternative treatment.
As this post is several days old now, has there been other changes? How are you coping?
