Hi everyone…..I’m relatively new to this site although I did introduce myself back in July when I was first diagnosed with ‘melanoma cancer of the oesophagus’.
I had the surgery to remove my oesophagus on 1st August and it appears to have been a success! I am experiencing the usual symptoms of extreme fatigue and loss of appetite, but on the whole I’m doing okay.
I spoke with my oncologist the other day and she is suggesting I go One years course of ‘immunotherapy’, the drug they will use is called Pembrolizumab. Some of the side affects look pretty scary but obviously it doesn’t mean I will suffer with any or all of them.
Is there anyone out there who has been through this experience and can give me any tips or advise please? I know we’re all different and experience things in different ways but it would be helpful to share things.
Thanks in advance.
Linda
Hey Lindyloo70
Pleased to read that your surgery appears to have been successful, but sorry that you have not had a response here, let me bump this post up, in the hope that someone is able to offer you some advice

Hi Linda,
I'm so pleased for you that the surgery has gone well. I'm a newbie and a few months from surgery so sadly I can't offer you advice. Are the voting for immunotherapy rather than further chemo? Have a look at 'smartpatients.com' there are many on there several years post surgery.
Take care
