Hello Ade123,
Sorry to hear that you are currently in a fight with cancer, but known that it is one you can and will win!! Whilst I personally do not have cancer, I am currently supporting my wife through her fight with a rare cancer and you are absolutely right that positive mental attitude helps win that battle.
Please know that as you go through your treatment there maybe times when you do not feel so positive and that this is okay and completely normal. My wife usually hits this low about day for after her chemo treatment, but a few tears and a happy dance later the focus is back on winning the war! The NHS really is a fantastic service and have been brilliant with my wife.
I really do wish you the very best and success with your treatment. Give yourself time to heal between the treatments, rest plenty and don't feel guilty if you have moments where you CBA (can't be ar*ed... sorry for swearing!)
Fingers crossed you get away lightly with side effects, best wishes
LJay
Hello. I was diagnosed with OC in June and I'm due to start FLOT chemo on Thursday. Am absolutely terrified of side effects. I've heard many horror stories. Was even going to ask if I could stay in hospital overnight just to be on safe side but its nice to hear from someone (as well as a few others) who have had more positive experiences of chemo.
Hi Kells,
I didn’t find my FLOT chemo too bad when I had it back in February. The worse bit for me was the neuropathy in my legs, felt like I had fallen in stinging nettles but that feeling you get about 2-3 days after falling in them when it’s just stinging a bit. Soon as you lay in a warm bath though or wrap up warm it subsides a bit. That’s my experience so may not affect you the same. I start my second lot (post op) on 8th august and if I have the same side effects as last time I’ll find it bearable
Hi Kells i think the thought of theses things can petrify us ,but as i said my first flot chemo was not to bad they give you tablets to take if you have any problems with nausea ect when you get home but i was fine ,really my only problem was tiredness and not sleeping to good , wishing you all the very best
Thank you ,just about to start my second round today and yes still positive , I quite enjoy sitting in chemo lounge chatting to everyone it always feels nice been round people going through the same and surprisingly very upbeat , and the NHS are just so good at what they do ,good luck with your treatment
