So here it is day 1 of Chemo. All fine so far, canola in, bloods taken, anti-sickness and steroids taken. I'm first in today and others just arriving. Supposed to be on 21 day treatment cycle but doc changed to 14 day cycle now in ward and they have me down for 21 days cycle. Bit of a mix up but I'm sure they will get it right.

  • John 2345. Good luck John, hope you don’t feel to bad afterwards. Hope the treatment works, and you don’t get to many side effects. You doing this before operation, or just chemotherapy. I’m in tomorrow at addenbrookes Cambridge for my fourth lot of chemotherapy. All the best Haybag.

  • Hi Haybag

My op was cancelled as there was insufficient femoral blood supply to my stomach to enable surgeon to cut and stretch my stomach. So it is vhemo and radiotherapy for me. Other than being bloated and constipated I have had no side effects from intravenous chemo today. Start 14 days of tablets at home tomorrow. Good luck with your chemo tomorrow.

    John

  • Thanks John

I start on the 15th Dec 2 chemo only 3 weeks apart and then chemo+Rt for 5 weeks so am hoping, mine is very high up so they think they will be able to treat it this way, it's all the tooing and froing and mix ups that gets to you. Going tomorrow for another endoscopy.

Be glad when the treatment starts and I know whats happening for the next 3 months !

I'll keep in touch with this page with how I feel and also whether I am still working either at home or in the office !!

  • Day 1 and 2 of chemo not to bad, but day 3 was a shocker. Totally wasted, lethargic, can't eat. Temp low enough to get it checked in day surgery. Given antibiotics just on case. Now on day 4 things getting better, still tired but am getting there. Mood swings not too bad.

  • Hi John, sorry to hear how your getting on, are you in any pain along with the tiredness, I had my endoscopy yesterday they put me under for it, I have now got a pain like Heartburn since, I'll wait until Monday and if it's no better will ring my Clinical Nurse. trouble is I have had no pain with this one so far so much so that I wouldn't know I had it, just thinking that as they have messed about around the site and took some more biopsies then perhaps it will settle

I hope your's improves John along the way, supose it's keep going wait and see how I get on week after next

  • Keep yourself warm buddy if you are on oxyplatin it will make you sensitive to cold. Heated blankets are only about 50 quid and are amazing. Glad to hear you are feeling better today mate.

  • Agree vinny, cold is the danger, wrapped up today Elec pad on. Thanks for concern and advice.

    John

  • Kas, there is some pain after endoscopy but that should fade. I noted that following endoscopy I always had increase in heartburn. Try omeprazole that's what I found works.

    Keep in touch

    John

  • Thanks John

It was concerning as I said because upto now I hadn't any pain as such, I'll get some and try that, I hope you start to feel better as can be, at least it's one other thing I can look out for, when I watched the video from St Lukes they mentioned low temps, I already check mine daily for work as I can't take Covid tests with a Laryngectomy, having great fun with the hospital and that one !!

Both of us stay in touch

    All the best Tony
