Been to addenbrookes hospital yesterday , seen all the specialists. Looks like chemo to start soon, PET scan come back as no distant cancer only regional. Said they are going to throw the book at it , to try and cure me. Things starting to seem real now, don’t feel to bad at the moment, trying to lean to eat slowly and chew more. Still eating quite well and always hungry. Some foods starting to get harder to swallow. At moment T3N1M0. Wish me luck on my journey, as I wish you all luck on yours. Haybag.

  • Hi Buzboombang, sorry to here your finding it tough, hope you start to find things getting better soon, just starting out on my journey, so don’t really know what to expect at the moment or how I will react and feel. Trying to remain as positive as I can as I’m sure you are too. All the best Haybag

  • Hi. I just thought I would share a few words of encouragement as my husband has been treated this year for OC which was T3N0M0 at the start. After 12 weeks of chemotherapy combined with the last 3  weeks of radiotherapy too, the cancer has gone. He still needs to eat slowly and has to chew everything well, as the radiotherapy has left damage and a narrowing of the oesophagus which we’re told they can stretch and will improve in time. He now will have 3 monthly endoscopies to monitor things. I hope this gives you encouragement that they really do know what they are doing and this can be beaten in lots of cases. Good luck and keep as positive as you can .

  • Thank you Alg1957 for your positive reply, trying my best to be as positive and active as I can be. Happy to here that your husband is doing well, wish him all the best from me.  Haybag.

  • Hi ,

Just to let you know there can be light at the end of the tunnel.

I was diagnosed T3N2M0 adenocarcinoma type 2 (at the junction) in 2018 and am in remission. I was treated at Guy's and St Thomas's FLOT -->  Surgery --> FLOT. I found the treatment tough especially the second cycle of FLOT but well worth it for me.

I was initially diagnosed T4aN2M0 but exploratory surgery showed my tumour was resting on my diaphragm, and the cancer had not spread to my diaphragm.

It is a tough treatment but hang in there and try to be positive. There are lots of us who have been successfully treated!

  • Thanks for the reply Anon613, hope your good, treatment has started, the long fight back begins, FLOT—>surgery —>FLOT. Hopefully the side effects are not too bad fingers crossed. Must admit feeling a bit apprehensive. Still no pain no gain so they say. All the best Haybag
