Hi, currently midway in my 4 cycles of Flot. I am coping well with the chemotherapy itself but am really struggling with the bone pain brought on by the Filgastrim injections (5daily injections every 2nd week). Paracetamol and hot water bottles make no difference whatsoever. Does anyone have any suggestions of what helped them with this?

  • Hi Shondon,

I think (though on this I am no expert) that you need to use an ibuprofen rather than paracetamol, if the pain to almost unbearable you may be able to ask your GP to organise some oramorph but hopefully if you start with the ibuprofen in the first instance this may help.

Have a chat with your pharmacist, who may be able to suggest an alternative.

I hope you find something to reduce this discomfort soon.

Thanks Lowe, I am not allowed anything anti inflammatory, however I did speak with my GP this morning and now have Oramorph to add to the paracetamol, fingers crossed that does the trick. Fingers crossed

Filgastrim stops today for 9 days, that should help too. At least I will be prepared for round 3 of Filgastrim with the Oramorph already in place.

  • Hi ,

    Definitely do not use Ibuprofen!

I had excruciating back pain one night after my anti-neutropenic injection and at 2:00AM was talked through pain management by my emergency CNS. This involved taking quite a large dose of codeine and applying lidocaine patches. This worked for me.

Hi, after numerous calls with CNS,111 and my GP I am now on a mix of Oramorph, Paracetamol and ECNaproxen along with my Lansoprazole......gradual increase in the Oramorph along with the others has made things more bearable. Also been referred for an X-ray or scan to ensure nothing else going on, but that could take a while. Not looking forward to starting the Filgastrim again next week though. If it gets worse I may ask about Lidocaine patches or similar, glad it helped you.
