Hi, that is exactly the staging I had almost 5 years ago and they removed 10 surrounding lymph nodes. I was told at my first follow up appointment 6 months later that 5 of the lymph nodes were positive. I paid little attention to the 'past ' details and just got on with recovering. I was 57 and had been a smoker for about 45 years and I had lost  about 5 stones in weight. I decided not to have chemotherapy and radiotherapy and went for the surgery only. Your husband will have to decide what he thinks is best for him. Don't be afraid to ask the consultants questions about the statistics and benefits of having any treatment. I asked questions and decided that I fancied my chances of getting through the surgery and recovering with my immune system intact. But your husband must decide what he thinks is best for him. Good luck and kind regards Frank.

Thanks for the info Frank. The specialist nurse said they won’t take the nodes out I did ask that because 2 are close to the thyroid.

she thinks it will chemo/radio first then see how it responds then a op but until we speak to the oncologist next week nothing is certain though

She did say because he is so young they were sitting on fence over treatment again didn’t ask what she meant by that as long as they fix him I dont really care what they do

I appreciate your help it’s all really daunting xx

  • Hi Etk

Like Frank I had that staging too. Not sure if I've already shared my blog with you? In case I didn't please see below.

Post pre op Chemo the staging was T2N1M0 ( i had a 9 week course of ECX that clearly had some effect) .

Best of luck to you and your hubby on your Journey.

Feel free to ask anything at anytime - there's a great crowd on here who are more than willing to help.
