Hi had my first chemo on New Year’s Eve 2025……I’ll certainly never forget that new year eve and wasn’t the party I was planning to have!! 2nd chemo last week, good and bad days but sleep is THE biggest problem. Tried every kind of CD sleeping pill but nothing giving me an uninterrupted sleep- have an appt with medicinal cannabis clinic and may try some good quality high strength broad spectrum cbs oil as do not want to have to take sleeping pills for whole of chemo. Has anyone tried cbd or medicinal cannabis?? Any advice would be soooo appreciated
Hi NP66 and a warm welcome to this little corner of the Community.
I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.
I don’t have Follicular Lymphoma but I have been on my Lymphoma journey for over 25.5 years first diagnosed way back in 1999 at 44…… with my rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of slow growing Cutaneous T-Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (CTCL).
I eventually reached Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) very type of aggressive Peripheral T-Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (PTCL-NOS) was then presenting so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
My first 5 days/6 nights cycle of my R-EPOCH was over Hogmanay 2013/14…… and we had a little Ceilidh in the unit to take in the New Year….. the staff took in party food and I even had a dram while connected to my 2 IV pumps.
Sleep can be a challenge but the advice I was given was keep as active as I could during the day…… I walked a lot, even in the ward, as I took my 2 IV pumps for a walk every hour round the corridors……. and if I felt as If I was nodding off I set an alarm to ensure it was no longer than a short cat nap.
I never did sleep all night and even now, 14 years out from that treatment I am still awake a number of times a night but I don’t stress this….. it’s my bodies rhythm.
In all the years I have been helping on this and another community I have not talked with anyone who actually did use cbd or medicinal cannabis…… a few mentioned it and after talking with their team did not go down that route.
