Hi all,
Interested in hearing from anyone who is a 'household contact' of someone with FL and has managed to get the COVID vaccine.
I was told two weeks ago by my partner's clinical nurse specialist that I should now be eligible to get a vaccine through my GP. Two weeks of frustration have ensued, with me being bounced back and forth between my GP and NHS 119, none of who seem to understand my circumstances (even after me forwarding supporting emails from my partner's CNS).
If you are the partner of someone with FL and have you been vaccinated, and how did you get it?
Thanks in advance!
Talking as the one with the NHL.
Up in Scotland, all adults in a household where there is someone with cancer can now get the jab and this can be done through our GP or an NHS Vaccination Centre.
I had my first AZ back on 3rd Feb then on 24 March had to get bloods done for my Stem Cell Transplant Late Effects clinic and during the discussions the nurse asked if my wife had had her jab!!! (she was not due to get it) turned out that the practice was giving the jab to all adults in Shielding Household but my wife had been missed out.... she got it within a few days.
She did have to go onto the NHS Inform wed site and register as an unpaid carer.
Hi Good Coffee
I’ve just seen this. I see you posted a month ago, so I do hope you have managed to get it sorted.
When I saw that those living with me were now eligible for the jab, I wrote an actual pen & paper letter to my GP, outlining:
“As you know, the Government’s policy has now changed…. And as such, my adult sons who live in my household are now eligible to be vaccinated, to protect me as a CEV person.
They are:
Name. DOB. NHS No
I would be grateful if you would please add them to the vaccination list. “
My three adult sons, 25, 22 & 20 all received a text the next day inviting them for vaccination, and they were invited for their second only four weeks or so afterwards, as vaccine supplies were running low.
So they have thankfully all been double vaccinated now, while their peers sadly are still patiently waiting their turn.
Good luck! I hope you manage to get them done.
Under 30s will be given Pfeizer rather than AZ.
Stay well yourself.
Sue
Just realised it’s you, who is the partner. Sorry, didn’t read properly! So yes, if your partner writes to their GP with the info and requests that you be added, I’m sure that will do the trick.
It’s not as if you are asking to jump the queue, it’s Government policy that you be vaccinated. They are not doing you a favour!
Good luck!!
Sue
