As my friend lumpy tumour is expanding the wrong way into my organs!! Just my luck to have a stoopid tumour lol! Anyone tried the cold cap to try and avoid hairloss?? Im not a vein person and at the end of the day its only hair!! But i have never been a pretty person, but without hair im sure i will look horrendous lol! So do they offer the cap, do u have to ask for it? Does it work, any other ideas?? Plz let me know your thoughts plz, luv n hugs to u all x
Hi Spoons, sorry to hear about 'lumpy tumour' misbehaving and you going into treatment.
Cold Caps are not recommended during Lymphoma Chemotherapy Treatment as the treatments for Lymphomas work in a rather different way from other types of chemos like in say Breast Cancer.
Because your FL is part of the blood cancer family, once the cancer mass start to break down the cancer cells will be dispersed around then eventually 'out' your body...... Cold Caps would reduce the effectiveness of the treatment in your head area resulting in a 'chance' that some cells will be left behind.
Do talk this through with your Cancer Nurse Specialist.

Hi spoons I got a second opinion first consultant wanted to give me R-CVP and the other O-CVP the latter being more expensive. I had O-CVP from July 2021-October 2021. I had no side effects from the chemo I.e. no sickness, no hair loss, no weight loss was very lucky and others having had it experienced the same. I could have had maintenance for 2 years after but as my scans were clear at the end of treatment I decided not to have it. I am a year on and still free of follicular lymphoma stage 3. The cap was not an option. Drink at least 3 pints of water each day during chemo, very important and try and walk each day it will help deal with the treatment. All the best Spoons
Hi Donna, there are lots of different chemo regimes - the following link will help unpack some but there are new ones coming on line all the time.
You're very unlikely to lose your hair with R-Bendamustine anyway. It's not one of the usual side effects. Good luck.
Thanks mike, i been told im having Rituximab and bendomustine, just the 2 as far as i know x
Omg some good news lol! Thanks londoner12, appreciate the info x
Hi Spoons, I hope you are doing ok.
I do hope that you are one of the folks who won't lose your hair when having Rituximab and Bendamustine or at worst, only see some thinning...... but unfortunately this recognised as a possible side effect ((hugs))
