Hi
Have been diagnosed and starting treatment after Boxing Day they are using R-CHOP treatment my cancer is in my stomach and spread to the chest they tell me that is quite common with this form of F Lymphoma
They tell me my first chemo session will last between 6 and 7 hrs and I will be stopping in hospital for at least overnight then I will have Chemo as an outpatient in three 3 week cycles
Just wondered if anyone can give me an idea of what to expect I know the hair loss etc just wondered how I will be feeling in the days after treatment
Any useful information for me and my wife we would be grateful
Afriad I'm a bit down having been gearing up for treatment to start today for a couple of weeks, it'll take a couple of hours to get myself back on track...
......all part of the Rollercoaster we all have to get on.
Yes I am coming round and they did say they will have a bed tomorrow so here's hoping
oh no, bedrockfred, that is not good news for your mental wellbeing.
As everyone on this forum knows, 'waiting' for just about everything to do with cancer is almost the worst thing about it.
But as Highlander said, for Follicular Lymphoma in particular, a delay in treatment in no way affects the outcome.
I'm feeling slightly guilty, as my treatment went without a hitch this morning, and I definitely sent you positive vibes, so very disappointed for you.
At least tomorrow, they will have all the resources in place to look after you properly, which they wouldn't have today if thats any consolation.
Take care
Tina
p.s. bedrockfred,
when i went in for my first R-Chop, I also had to have a bed allocated. In the end though, they sent me home after treatment which lasted a whole day, because I didn't react badly to it.......so maybe.....
Best Wishes
Tina
Thanks for that glad your treatment is going along as it should really pleased and you have cheered me up maybe I'll be like you and won't need that overnight stay here's hoping
My spirits are on the rise again
Hi all my treatments were on the day ward - chemo unit and for a number I had a bed as the were 4 in the corner of the unit as one of the side effects can be a drop in blood pressure which is why they check it every half hour, the are other possible side effects to, so to play safe normally they do the first on a bed and if your ok the rest will be given sitting in a chair.
We all understand the disappointment but it will be fine as many of us have experienced one or two during treatment and after.
John
Oh good there is finally some action, you must feel like a weight has been lifted. Good luck and we'll see you the other end!
Best Wishes
Tina
