I haven't been on here for a very long time, but I keep receiving emails about other people writing on this page. So thought today I would. First off I'm sure everyone on here doesn't actually want to be here, right?! But as we are, then I guess we should try to support or at least just listen to one another...

So I was 27 when I got diagnosed with conjunctival melanoma, young, pretty naive to it all, thinking the drops would work and that would be it. So now I'm 37, and have had 4 biopsy's, 5 mitomycin drop courses, 2 radiotherapy plaque. Have recently had another check up and there is some pigmentation on my eye still but the Dr said it may just be dead cells (I hope it is). Anyway if anyone is going through something similar, you are not alone!

  • Hi and welcome back!

I'm a bit of interloper to this group, as my melanoma was skin based rather than in my eye, but I volunteered a few months ago to help out here.

It's great to hear how you're doing and I hope I can perhaps call on you from time to time if there's a new member in the group who might benefit from someone whose been there and got the T-shirt, so to speak.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi Latchbrook

That's kind of you to volunteer on here! Are you OK?

Thanks, and yes that's fine, just get in touch whenever you like Slight smile

  • Morning

Yes, I'm fine thank you. I had my operations 4 years ago now and just have three monthly check-ups now. Mind you since last May these check-ups have been over the phone! So I'm not being examined just asked if I think everything is okay. I don't really mind as being this far away from the original diagnosis I'm quite calm about it all but I feel for those who are maybe just a year or two in.
