Hello everyone. I hope its OK to post when I don't have confirmation yet but I have got myself in a panic and don't know where to turn. Opticians referred me because they saw something in the back of my eye. At the hospital the first thing the doc asked was if I had been treated for cancers before. I said no. He said it may be a nevus but that he was referring me to opthalmic oncology for a head and torso mri. And that was that. Its just me and my kids who are grown but I am a carer for my daughter who has severe anxiety and my son is struggling s I can't share my fears with them. I've obviously gone to the worst case scenario. Any advice welcomed please.
hello have you heard yet when your appointment is? i was recently diagnosed with ocular melanoma after specsavers finding something behind my eye. i had a year of 6 monthly checkups at my local happy before being referred to moorfields eye hospital in London. I’m having surgery this Friday followed by proton therapy in February. i wish you all the best. hopefully you will get some answers soon.
Hi, thank you so much for responding. Got told today I have been referred to Moorfields so just waiting on that. Have managed to get myself in a total panic which will teach me not to Google! I hope your operation goes well on Friday. It sounds like Moorfields are the best at what they do so you are in good hands. Will you have to stay in?
well i was due in today for my operation at moorfields unfortunately my pcr for the hospital came back positive the operation and treatment have been postponed. Yep say i’m gutted is an understatement. i have a new date for surgery which is the 15 feb, it may be sooner if Clatterbridge cancer centre can see me sooner. Have you an appointment yet? Moorfields have been very supportive especially the oncology nurses. Take care.
Hi, I was hoping all went well so sorry to hear it had to be postponed. You must be so frustrated, hopefully they can see you sooner , maybe ask if there is a cancellation list? I got a letter this morning from Moorfields referring me back to my local hospital for monitoring as they can't see anything that needs intervention right now so very relieved. I will keep everything crossed for you that they can get you sorted quickly. Take care. I will keep checking in.
