Good morning melanoma owners!

I had a letter a while ago from the regional hospital with a date for an inspection, the wording on the letter made it clear that they didn't know I had already had 'the Proton procedure' so I phoned up and explained this to them.  Yet another letter arrived this time saying I had 'MISSED' my appointment and making a new one.  Not cancelled but missed.

I thought maybe it's to do with my other longstanding eye problem, that of continuous and copious watering.  So we went along and I endured the eye test, vinegar in BOTH eyes and a scan before I got to see the consultant.

From the outset it was obvious that he believed nothing had been carried out on my melanoma, I tried to steer the appointment round to the watering problem but no joy apart from yet more drops.  The only medical appiointments I am going to respond to will be from Liverpool or Clatterbridge.

Cheers, a miffed Tony.

  • Hi Tony

Do you have a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) assigned to you? The reason I ask is because when something similar happened to me I spoke to my CNS and she sorted it out.

    Good morning Latchbrook,

this is a looong time problem.  I've been given creams, sprays and eyedrops, I'm amazed they haven't given me suppositories! !

I've had a section taken out of each eyelid (north and south) and one eye sections removed twice!  "They" cannot do any more cutting or my eyelids will disappear under and over my eye!

    C.N.S.?  Cheers,   Tony.

  • Hi Tony

CNS stands for clinical/cancer nurse specialist.

Sorry, having reread my reply to you I realise I didn't make myself entirely clear. I wasn't commenting on your treatment but on your admin problems.

A little while ago I had my normal 3 monthly check-up done privately because I would be away when the NHS one was due. I phoned the NHS appointments department to tell them I didn't need the one they'd given me and they said they'd cancel it. However, a week before it was due I got a reminder letter from the hospital. So this time I phoned my CNS and got her to cancel the appointment for me.

    All the best
