Just waiting for news..

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

Wishing you all the best with your phone call on Monday.

  • Thanks Anne. Thank you.

  • No problem. I am confused though, as I'm sure when I replied to your post it said a lot more than "just waiting for results" Thinking

  • Hi, yes, I just changed my mind and thought it was a bit of a stupid question, I have been looking everywhere online for answers and everyone just says the waiting time means nothing, they get to it when they get to it! No worries at all, it will come when it's ready! Thanks!

  •  Good morning.

With luck as I write this the stress of awaiting a result is now resolved.

One thing I have found is the power of PALS....that is assuming the hospital handling your scan has one.

These Patient Advisory and Liaison Services usually have access to numbers and such that are not available to Joe Public. If you should get held up in future, give them a call/drop them a line and see if that expedites matters.

  • Hi Simply Derek,

Thank you so much for your encouraging message. It is in fact good news, it took 3 weeks for the consultant to phone me, but all is okay with my liver for now. I waited so long with such stress and in the end I just got a 3 minute phone call saying all was well. It doesn't explain my 6 stone weight loss and bowel changes and other new things, but I guess the liver is functioning as it should so I am happy about that. I am wondering whether the radiation from the brachytherapy is to blame for these physical changes over the last year? I don't know. I heard in a seminar from one of the top American uveal melanoma doctors that in an eye plaque, (because uveal melanoma doesn't respond to chemo and barely responds to radiation,) there is apparently so much extremely high strength radiation that it is enough to destroy a woman's two whole boobs, if she had breast cancer! Can you believe that?! No wonder it causes lots of side effects, most of which are probably not shared openly with us. Anyway, I really appreciate you checking back in for me! Best wishes and I hope all is well with you too.
