I am on my very last week of oral chemo meds. The past year has been rough, but this past month I've felt worse and worse. Had a emergency appointment with my haematology nurse today, bloods taken and a chest x-ray because of constant heart palpitations. Fingers crossed for a good outcome. I just want to feel more like my self ,sooner rather than later. Has anyone else had this problem?
Sorry to read of your problems.
Can you advise what drugs you were taking, because you mention " heart palpitations" and some treatments are known to cause what is called Atrial fibrillation of the heart.
Specifically and in order of worst to best.
Ibutrinib
Acalabutrinib
Zanobutrinib
Pertobutrinib.
All the above drugs treat CLL, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and SLL.
They also have heart side effects for some people, which if not monitored or treated can make a person feel very poorly..
Let us know then what drugs you are being treated with.
Best wishes......................
Hi Lindylou2 and good to hear you are near the end of your treatment…… my Heamatologist told me that going through the treatment process (diagnosis, treatment and recovery) is like doing a marathon and a boxing match every day over all the months….. and this was done without any training.
Think about doing the London Marathon and boxing Mike Tyson without any training and you had to finish it as your life depended on it……. this is the journey you have been on so it most likely will take much longer than you would think to get back to some normality.
Other health issues can unfortunately come along, be it nothing to do with your treatment journey or as a result of your treatment.
Back in Oct 2015 I had reaction to one of my meds I had during my second Allogenic SCT resulting in developing A-FIB…… it’s now part of my life and does not stop me doing the things I want to do.
A boxing match seems a very good description ,only I'm still waiting for the bell to ring.
