My father in law has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer given 2/4months. Just a question i wanted to ask without sounding awful as i know how bad terminal lung cancer is as i lost my dad to it 2yrs ago. But weve booked our 1st family holiday abroad and we go in 18days. My partner is obviously unsure whether to leave his dad (which is understandable) but his dad is currently in hospital due to a fall and they will not let him home until carers are in place but regarding his health hes eating really well, hes in no pain, in a month his mass has grew 0.5cm which she is surprised at. Hes been advised not to have any chemo as he has a few underlying illnesses too. But i think hes in quite a good place at the minute. What do people think about his son going away for the week? We have a 9yr old daughter and weve been saving 16months for it he doesnt wanna miss it but wants to be there for his dad. Seriously does anyone think in such a small space of time his dad would deteriorate that quick? Thanks dont want too sound heartless as ive been here myself xx

  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear that your father-in-law has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. Could I suggest that you post this question in the lung cancer group, which I see you're a member of, as I think the people over there will have a better idea than the members of this group about how lung cancer progresses.

However, at the end of the day I think the decision about whether to cancel your family holiday or not will have to be your decision as no one here can really say whether your father-in-law will deteriorate quickly or not as cancer affects everyone so very differently.

  • Hi

No you don't need to type it out again. Just copy your post from here and paste it into a new discussion in the lung cancer group.
