Hey everyone I was diagnosed with cin3 2 years ago. Was meant to have the larze bit found out I was pregnant and couldn't have the treatment.im really worried about having my colposcopy this time around as it took ages to come back last time waited 3 months.
If it turns out to be cancer how do they tell you have you got to wait again or do they tell you straight away.
Thank you for any advice would be great xx
Hi danielle and welcome to our group.
When you go for the colposcopy, they will want to look at your cervix closely and put some liquid on to identify any abnormal cells. They may want to take a small biopsy which will be sent away to be tested. It’s only from a biopsy that cancer can be determined, so you won’t be told on the day.
So yes, there will be another wait if a biopsy is taken and it’s difficult to say how long this might take. If cancer is identified in the biopsy, then you would be called back for further testing or treatment, depending on what is found. Hopefully things will not have progressed beyond CIN3, which is pre cancerous cells, and usually CIN3 cells would be removed in a LLETZ procedure at the colposcopy clinic.
Have you got your colposcopy appointment yet?

Ok, so that’s not too long to wait. Try not to be too anxious about it-it it may well be CIN3 and that can be easily dealt with.

I actually went straight to a cancer diagnosis as I had a visible tumour, so missed out the CIN3 part!
Waiting for tests and results is always horrible, I know, but let’s hope everything for you is straightforward and there’s no cancer there.

I had chemoradiation nearly 5 years ago as it wasn’t possible to have surgery for my stage of cancer. This was successful but unfortunately the cancer came back and then I did have very extensive and life changing surgery. My situation is not typical though!

I think you get a strength from somewhere to deal with what needs to be done- that’s what I felt anyway, because I was desperate to be better! All is ok with me thank you-I had a brilliant surgical team who saved my life.
