Good morning guys,
I received my diagnosis yesterday of cervical cancer, adenocarcinoma stage 2B
Consultant said I won't be able to have surgery so will be having chemoradiation and possibly brachytherapy.
My nurse is hopefully going to ring me today with an appointment to meet my oncologist next week.
Be interested to talk to any ladies fighting this same battle. I'm feeling quite calm now I know my staging etc although it all feels a little unreal right now.
Sending love and strength to everyone else fighting cancer ️
Hello lisa
My treatment was 10 months ago ... I had a few tumours as well as cervical cancer stage 2 so I've had the treatment your going to have.....patients at the hospital asked me what it was like..everybody is different but it's not as bad as you think...all depends on age and other problems that you may have..friends used to say to me THINK POSITIVE I found that not easy but it is true... my tip is general aesthetic when it comes to Baracha Obama as I used to call it.1st time I had the numbing injections..but second time I was determined to have the general aesthetic and did.
Good wishes to you X
Hello Glitter,
Thank you so much for replying to my post. So happy to hear that you have got through it all. I think aside from having the big C, I am a relatively healthy 42 year old!! I am reading a lot of posts on here and on Jo's Trust that the treatment isn't as bad as you imagine in your head so I'm ready to tackle it now I know my staging etc.
My friends and family have been a fantastic support so far. I have had a few bad days where I have had a massively ugly cry but I am now starting to get my head around things. Just have to tell my son the news now as we didn't want to mention anything until we knew exactly what treatments I am going to have. Absolutely dreading that conversation but guess it's gotta be done.
I love that you called the Brachy treatment, Baracha Obama!!! I'm gonna pinch that one!! From what I have read online I had kind of already decided to get knocked out for this as it sounds pretty gruesome. How do you feel post treatment if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you for your well wishes XX
Hi Lisa
Glad your meeting things head on..best way..
I was quite relaxed before treatment I was just glad to be getting a plan in place when Corona virus was rife
I also found out who my real friends are but only told them of my cancer when they asked how I was..I obviously told my family
I remember before I knew about my health..I was buying a car and the salesman came right out and said he had cancer I was shocked at his story...not knowing I was about to get the same news..
Before treatment I told the consultant about my diverticular disease..so I had to go through investigation to make sure the bowel wasnt injured..
After treatment I was really in pain and still am but since then I find it wasnt the treatment that was giving me pain it was the diverticulosis!!!!
So chances are you will just feel tired...
Ha ha your welcome to pinch Baracha Obama ..I couldnt say the real word..also I say I have diverti blah blah cos I cant say the real word either..!
Wishes and kisses X
Hi Glitter,
I totally agree with you regarding that you find out who your real friends are. I must be honest the vast majority of mine have been absolutely fantastic and it makes you realise how loved you are.
I don't know about you but for me its the word 'cancer' that absolutely frightens the life out of me. My sister thinks I should give it another name, so I am currently on narrowing it down to several expletives!!
Sorry to hear you are suffering with diverticular disease on top of everything else you have been through. Hope you manage to get some relief from your pain.
Definitely pinching Baracha Obama!!! I've never used as many long words I can't pronounce as I have this last month!
Enjoy your weekend and thanks again for sharing your positive story. xx
Hi Lisalala,
My story is pretty similar with yours. I diagnosed with 2b adenocarcinoma back in August and I finished treatment in November. So far so good, I am waiting to my 2nd scan post treatment to confirm the response however the consultant is very positive. Finger crossed :). Regarding the treatment for me it was manageable I started having symptoms during the 3rd week of treatment. If you need any info or you have any worries message me and I am happy to discuss.

Hi Maria,
Thank you so much for your message. So pleased to hear you're through your treatment and everything is well.
I've just completed my first week, 5 radiotherapies and one cisplatin chemo. Another four weeks of the same to go!
So far I feel OK. Have slight nausea and feeling pretty tired but I'm working too so may have to rethink that in the next week or so!
What side effects did you have, if you don't mind me asking? Also have you encountered any long term effects since finishing your treatment?
Lisa xx
Hi Lisalala,
It seems we had the same treatment, In my case I took sick leave even though I was mainly ok at the beginning of the treatment I found that I would spend too much time waiting for the rads in the hospital and on top of that the commute that I didn’t have time to work. Regarding the side effects, in. The first 2 weeks I was mainly ok only a little bit of nausea due to chemo. In the 3rd week following chemo I got a bad reaction with high fever and I hospitalised for 3 days with medication to bring down the fever. That week was quite tough because I was commuting in adaily basis during the hospitalisation for the rads ( i was doing these in another hospital) that week I started having severe diarrhoea but I managed it somehow afterwords with my diet. As the treatment progressed I was feeling very tired and without appetite.
Generally, except from the fever that week the only symptoms I had were the lost of appetite, tiredness and the diarrhoea.
The most difficult part for me was the brachy but from what I see it seems as I am the exception usually, it seems that most of the people were ok.
unfortunately for me I spend a week in the hospital following brachy as I had again some fever and my immunity was very low so the doc gave me two bags of blood to feel better which worked
Following the treatment I came back complete to normal in a month time. I am using the dilator it is quite uncomfortable but totally manageable
I hope all the best for you I am sure you will get through this!!

Hi Lisa. I have today joined this forum after being given the diagnosis recently for cervical cancer, adenocarcinoma. However, they couldn’t tell me the stage? I wonder why? I am awaiting surgery which they say will be the 1st week of May for a radical open trachelectomy So only a couple of weeks to wait thank god. I am feeling amazingly calm almost I think, in denial. So I understand your “feeling calm”.
Returning your strength to get thru these horrible times.
Hi Lillysue,
Sorry you're now a member of this club. I'd say if you're having surgery you are most probably some sort of stage 1.
My Oncologist and consultant both said that they don't ever go straight to surgery for anything worse than stage one. I'm stage two but couldn't have it so sounds like you're very early stage which is good.
Great that you're feeling calm. I think once you get your diagnosis and treatment plan, everything slots into place and you just get on with it.
Lots of luck with your surgery.
Keep smiling xx
Hi Maria,
Sorry just seen your reply.
Aw bless you, it sounds like you had it really tough throughout. Brilliant that you are now through it though and it's all a memory.
I've had my second chemo today and eighth radiotherapy. Feeling quite good but suffered with the fatigue, nausea and radiation runs back end of the week. I suppose it's a learning curve knowing what aggravates the bowel.
I'm quite anxious about the Brachy but putting it to the back of my mind until the time comes.
Wishing you continued health.
