Hi All,
I had an examination and biopsies taken after my GP referred me to colposcopy due to the appearance of my cervix being consistent with cancer (this was during an appt to fit a coil a- which didn’t go ahead). This was through the urgent pathway. I did get an appointment within two weeks, but it was cancelled and rescheduled for what was three weeks from my GPs referral.
On the day of my colposcopy I wasn’t shown my cervix on the screen but the consultant did say it looked highly suspicious. She took multiple biopsies and said she would call me as soon as she had the results back and within the two-week wait pathway. I’m still waiting for that and it is now two weeks and two days. I left a voicemail with the gynaecology secretary dept yesterday and I’ve not been called back yet and tried today and it just rings out. The letter to my GP is on the NHS app which says my cervix is friable, has calcification and some area of necrosis. She also says the tissue does look highly suspicious for a cervical cancer.
I’m so filled with anxiety and the wait is unbearable with my emotions up and down. Has anyone else had to wait past the two week timeframe before? Is it normal to be left waiting this long?
For reference: Ive had years of excessive menstrual bleeding (constant), severe iron deficienct anemia, back and pelvis pain… but linked to pre-existing gynae issues… but maybe it is cancer?
Any words of advice or wisdom from those who have had to go through this awful wait?
