Hi and a warm welcome to the Online Community. Believe me we've all been exactly where you are now, scared and anxious now you've received a cancer diagnosis but by joining this forum you'll find support and reassurance.
I myself have a different type of cancer but I've had CT scans and MRI you can do this. A CT scanner is a bit like a doughnut. You lie on a table and the scanner moves up and around your body. You need a full bladder to provide contrast other time you might have a injection of a fluid which also provides contrast. It doesn't hurt, just feels a bit weird.
An MRI scan can feel a little claustrophobic but if you explain your fears to the radiologists/nurses they'll be very caring. You'll be given headphones - Just hope the music is good but you've got to stay very still so no jiggling about! You also got a panic button if you need it. The staff can see and hear you and they're very good at checking up and reassuring you. A robotic voice advises you how long each segment takes 3 seconds, 10 seconds. Before you know it it'll all be over.
Once the scans and tests are done a treatment plan will be devised for you and you'll feel more in control.
Read the older threads on here and hit reply to any post you'd like to answer. Come back and tell us how the scans go.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.
To find more information covering diagnosis and treatments there are pages covering most types of cancers which can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.

Hi Shazz, I have been diagnosed at the same stage as you and I have also been suffering with pelvic pain for two years which has gradually got worse. I went through the gastro route even though I kept telling doctors that I didn't think it was gastro! If it helps I think CT scans are easier than MRI scans because they are less noisy and I think they're quicker. I know it's really hard not to worry, I can't say I'm free of worry myself and it's easy to say try not to worry but I think it's natural given the circumstances!
Thank you for your reply and I don't feel so alone in this journey. I am glad you are in the process now and getting treatment. Thank you so much for reaching out x ️
You're welcome. I think reaching out to other people is what we all need so we feel less alone and isolated. It's brilliant to have family and friends but for me I still feel like I'm isolated because I don't think anyone understands what it's like to go through this unless they've done it themselves XXX
