Stage 1b cervical cancer

I don't have any experiences with this type of cancer or treatments to share with you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies.

I've found this information for you on treatment for cervical cancer which I hope will help. You could also post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist nurses will respond within 2 working days.

Hey, I had this too, i think it really depends on where exactly the cancer is and how big it is, I was initially told mine was a 2cm tumour only found in my cervix so had surgery to remove my cervix (called a radical trachelectomy) but it was actually a 3cm tumour and more cells were later found in my lymph nodes so I had to get a course of radio and chemotherapy  I finished mine at the end of April and just waiting on another mri, hoping it’s all over with!  The waiting really is the absolute worst, I would say try and keep busy and if you can try stay positive, whatever the outcome you can get through this!!

I had a phone call yesterday so my recent pet ct showed the same as my MRI my cancer seems localised so just waiting on my next appointment now so they can give me my treatment plan. The waiting is horrendous though I don't think til your going through something like this that you realise how long it takes. I will be 31 days since my diagnosis on the 19th and feeling very concerned about how long it's took to get there. What happens if it goes over 31 days anyone had that problem before?

I'm under the impression that it should be 31 days from diagnosis to treatment plan and another 31 days from treatment plan to treatment/surgery?

Thanks for your reply Angeleee. I'm try to stay positive but hard sometime such a emotional rollercoaster isn't it! I think once I know my treatment plan I will feel much better. Everyone says the waiting is the worst part. I think because you feel like you havent even started to fight yet and its all out of your hands. Hopfully I might get some news on a appointment this week!

I'm so sorry you are going through this its an awful time... i know...been there, done that!

I was eventually diagnosed as 1b in 2012, single mum to a 3 yr old autistic child. I was told surgery chemo and radiation was standard procedure....i went away and did a tonne of research and found the procedure trachelectomy could be done without any chemo/ radiation. I was lucky that my oncologist was the only one in Belfast who could do it. I had only a small incision along my pubic area and a few small crosses where they removed my lymph nodes too. Do your own research and decide yourself what is best for you. Good luck and stay strong and positive. Best of luck x

Fingers crossed you get some answers quickly, it really is the hardest time, I really hope you will get answers soon!  I actually ended up going to my GP and he gave me something to help me sleep and to help with my nerves which helped me a bit cos I remember feeling so strung out which just made everything worse, but he was really great, I think he actually managed to access some of my results little quicker and phoned me as soon as he got them so might be worth going to speak to your GP too, even just to vent your concerns helps a little too x

Hi firework girl! This made me so happy. I just got diagnosed with cervical stage 1b.

They’ve ordered a Pet scan to see whether my lymph’s are infected or not, since they were swollen on the MRI (I did have a massive flu).

im 29 and desperately want to become a mom, so I’m trying really hard for a Trachelectomy. How did you “convince” your doctor?

I've just been diagnosed with stage 1b2 cervical cancer. Unfortunately the type of cancer I have can't be removed by operating as its clear cell. I'm currently waiting on a PET scan so I can start my chemo and radiotherapy. I did expect to have surgery so it was a massive blow to find out that I'll not be. I do wonder if surgery would have been a simpler option rather than chemo and radiotherapy but well its not to be.
