Hi I am new here and wanted to ask for advice, I finished my treatment for cervical cancer 4B in November and for the last 3 days I have had the feeling of soreness and uncomfortable pain in my vagina, I don’t know what to do to stop this and to help myself any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

I’m sorry to read you’ve got this pain you’re worried about. You haven’t said what treatment you’ve had, so it may be difficult for others to share what their experiences are.

However, the general rule of thumb when you’ve got a new symptom that is persisting is that you should contact your team for advice and possibly get a check up. If you are in the UK, I’d recommend that you call your CNS for a chat first, and explain what’s been happening. They will be able to advise if you need to come in to be seen by your consultant.

It’s best to get some reassurance to find out if there’s anything which needs further investigation, and I hope you’ll let us know how you get on.

  • Hi Sarah

I had 6 weeks of chemo then 25 days of chemo radiotherapy then 3 sessions of brachytherapy. I’ve called my GP and I’m going this afternoon. I am in the uk.

  • Hi

Thanks for confirming. I hope your gp can help, but I’d still it run it past your treating team who  are the specialists in symptoms and treatment effects.

A number of ladies in the group have gone through the same treatment regime (I only had chemoradiation and later surgery but never had the pain you are describing) so hopefully might come along and post if they had a similar pain.

  • Hi, I finished my treatment in January and have had some soreness off and on in my vagina and urethra, but it has been happening since the last week of treatment. Hope your GP has helped, like Sarah said, your CSN might be more knowledgeable about it. Hope it’s improving.
