Hi, 8 years after breast cancer and a mastectomy on my left side I have been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in my sternum. My Onc has changed me from tamoxifen to letrozole (I’m 57) and wants to put me on Denosumab which I’m a bit scared of. Is any one else on it and ok, I’m very scared at the moment and feeling anxious which isn’t like me, I’m still trying to get me head round my diagnos and the new norm for me. :-(

  • Hi Spicegirl welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear how anxious that you are but maybe it is little wonder with the history that you have had to date.

Im not sure about the drug that you are asking about but feel sure that some of the other lovely folks on here will be able to give more detail and some of them have had this drug and should be able to help.

  • Nothing to worry about.  It’s standard treatment for MBC especially if it’s in the bones.  I’ve had 9 jabs so far and don’t notice a thing in terms of side effects.  It certainly doesn’t hurt and is over in seconds.  Don’t feel anxious, everyone is different of course, but it is really a straight forward jab.  Ax

  • Thank you that helps x

  • Hi Spicegirl, I was diagnosed in October and spent that month so anxious I ended up at A&E at one point. I have never been anxious in my life ( even after 1st diagnosis 18 years ago) IGetting starteHeart on a treatment plan, getting my strength back and reading this forum has made such a difference. You just need time to get your head around things- you will get there HeartHeart

Hi , I have been on denosumab for almost two years and don't have any side effects, aside from the positive one, because it helped my bones to strengthen and I went from having to use a stick to walk, to being able to walk stick-free after about a month.
