I attended a bone scan appt. today and as I was leaving I asked the scary question did you find anything. The nurse was kind and said "all ok accept I did notice something on your neck" (I did push her a little to explain). She went onto say it could be wear and tare or you have pulled your neck but that a CT scan would confirm. She checked I had a CT scam booked which I do on 2.6.21. Her body language and I understand she is not allowed/going to tell me anything I felt she did recognise what she saw. I do not have any bone pain in my neck, My tumour markers (CA15-3) is at 48, and my calcium levels are ok. May I ask if anyone has any advise or experience and if they have any idea of their own tumour marker result when secondary bone cancer was confirm?
Hi LouLou1007 welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear about how things are feeling for you, thta doesn't sound like a good way to have left you at all.
If they did find anything or there were any areas of concern then this will be included in the report that goes to the Doctors and your GP. Is it worth a call to your GP to ask what the outcome of the scan was assuming the GP made the referral for the Bone scan in the first instance?
This could be wear and tear or something related to Orthopaedics which does need treatment but could be unrelated to Bone Cancer if that makes sense. I know that it may sound good that the nurse spoke about the results but it does sound like she has answered so indirectly and with little information that this is more worrying for you than maybe it needs to be and thats not fair for you.
Sorry not to have been of much help and I do hope that you get some answers soon to put your mind at rest. xxxx
HI Gail,
Nice to hear from you, I aprreciated your time and effort in replying. My Oncologist referred me to for a bone and CT scane due to my CA15 - 3 being elevated at 48. I understand that the Oncologist receives the scan results (can take 2-3 weeks) however if there is a signifcant finding this is highlighted to the Oncologist faily urgently. So I guess no news is good news but the waiting is making me anixous and effects my whole day to day. I feel that my patient care with the Oncologist is lacking a little as I asked him for the CA 15-3 blood tests - the reason I did this was because my last one was 4 years ago and I am coming up for my 5 years this Aug and have never since original breast caner had a blood test, scan so how do you know if you had secondaries, surely the quicker identified the more you can help prevent it spreading. Thank you for listening to me and for your words. Louise xx
