Hi all, this is my first time posting. I was diagnosed with stage 2b invasive ductal carcinoma in late November. I’ve got a 28mm tumor and two lymph nodes involved. Weakly ER positive, HER2 negative, grade 3.
my treatment plan is currently 6 rounds of chemo (EC-T) then a lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Due to be scanned after the second cycle of chemo to check progress, if no change or signs it’s growing then I’ll have the surgery earlier. I had my first round of chemo on the 30th December, so almost two weeks ago.
My tumor is at the side of my right breast.
What’s worrying me is that I’ve been a little bit swollen on the side of the breast that’s affected, and a bit around where my bra line is. I’ve been doing a lot of self examination which I know I shouldn’t, so not sure if that’s part of it. Yesterday, and what’s been worrying me the most, I noticed a dip in the skin above where the tumour is. I can still feel the tumour but it doesn’t feel as large as before, but not sure if this is due to swelling as previously it was very noticeable and easy to feel. I’ve read the skin dip can be a side effect of chemo as it breaks down the cancer cells, but also that it can be a sign of progression.
im going to call and leave a message for my breast nurses so I can hopefully get an examination asap, but I wondered if anyone else had ever noticed this after a round of chemo? I have to admit I’m having a bit of a panic.
