I have breast cancer and womb cancer.  My womb cancer has been prioritised as more aggressive and I have 3 chemo sessions left, due up finish start of February.  I have been taking Letrozole for ER + breast cancer for 5 months, at my second scan this week my lump had grown.  I sm obviously very worried about this, has anyone else experienced similar and what happened.  Thanks all

  • Hi Lambourne

I am sorry to hear of your womb and breast cancer. I hope that you are not having too many side effects from your chemo. I had chemo in 2022 for a grade 3 endometrial cancer and I know that it is not easy at times.

I understand your concern about the breast lump growing whilst on Letrozole. I wonder if it would be worth contacting your Breast cancer nurse to see what happens next. It may be that they need to look at the letrozole and see if there is an alternative dose or alternative medication. it may be that they will just continue to monitor and rescan once your chemo has completed.

You are also welcome to give the Macmillan Support Line a call and talk it through with one of the nurses who would be able to clarify what may happen now.

I wish you well with the rest of your chemo and in the meantime we are here if you need us.

  • Hi Lambourne

I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  i'm sorry to hear that you have both breast cancer and womb cancer and that your lump has grown.  There are a number of alternative medications to Letrozole so it may be that your team will chance to one of those to see if they'd help reduce the size of the lump.  I'm on Anastrozole as I had ER+ Breast cancer as well.

Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your treatment.

    Best wishes
