Hi all,

im looking for a little advice please. I had my operation for breast cancer 6 weeks ago ( therapeutic mammoplasty) the operation went really well and I didn’t feel to bad at all after it.  I am almost 7 weeks post surgery and my breasts are still very tender. They have healed really well and there is no infection at all but.
is this normal to still feel quite tender after 7 weeks. I have told my BCN over the phone and she said she would make a note of it.
thank you in advance for any advice. Blush

  • Glad the surgery went well.  Takes time for everything inside the body to heal.  Also after surgery there can be inflammation.

It is good that you reported it to BCN.  Just would re commmend that you monitor it and even document on a log how you are doing with the tenderness.  Then if it is still tender you can notify BCN again.
    Take care.

  • I’m having this done in 8 days time. Not looking forward to it but it’s got to be done

  • Hi ladies Pb, you will be amazed at how you feel after the op. I was sent home with oramorph and senna. I never used any pain relief other than two paracetamol on my first day. It is definitely not painful. At most it is a little uncomfortable and you have to sleep on your back. My breasts are still tender but I did have quite a large bust and a lot removed. If I’m honest, they look better now than before the op haha.
please don’t worry about the op, you will be grand. Good luck

  • Thanks Dhill for your quick response. It doesn’t help that our beautiful 33 year old daughter died almost 9 months ago from blood cancer.
Life has been truly tough, awful and every expletive for the last few months. It obviously adds to my anxiety levels. May you continue to heal

  • Omg, I am so so sorry for your loss…and I can’t begin to imagine what you have been through. I am certain you will be fine after your op, and I fully understand your anxiety.
you try to relax and not stress about the op.
sending good vibes and a huge virtual hug

  • Thank you for your reply Barbara, I will do that
