Anyone had radiotherapy with a cast on for a fractured wrist?

I was out running last week and fell and fractured my wrist. Currently in a cast. I am due to start 20 daily radiotherapy sessions (post-lumpectomy) on 13 May and am trying to find out whether i will be able to hold the radiotherapy handles. I am waiting for a call back from someone in the rad. unit whose call I missed on Wednesday and who seems hard to get hold of.

Anyone had any experience of radiotherapy with a cast?

There is a risk that the bones aren't well aligned - I find out next Thursday if I need an op., which will happen the next day. I guess that would really affect the start of my radiotherapy and subsequent additional chemo. Anyone got any experience of this?

Thanks.

  • Hi, oh what a pain that you've fractured your wrist, hope that's not too painful.  I think you'll need to ask the team about your specific situation but  radiotherapy is very quick, so hopefully you will be able to manage.  Best wishes

  • Thanks for the good wishes. I am awaiting a call back from radiotherapy - I keep being assured the person will ring me back but no sign yet! Was just wondering in the meantime whether this had happened to anyone else.
