Hi. Just wondering if anyone has any tips to remain well in between chemo sessions. Ie vitamin infusions, early night, exercise, juicing, anti sickness bands etc.
I will be commencing weekly taxol and carboplatin next Friday for 9 weeks.
I am usually quite active/not a couch potato. Always running around the house doing jobs. Did everyone give up work? All I hear from the medical professionals is that everyone reacts differently.
This will be adjuvant therapy so the oncologist said I can stop at any time if it’s too tough but I really want to get the benefit from it.
thank you ladies x
The reality is that everyone is different. I had no sickness but did feel fatigued. I ate a healthy diet and still do. I also continued with the exercises given to me by my oncology physio.
I went for a walk as far as possible everyday. The fresh air felt good.
Learn to listen to your body.
I am retired but do church voluntary work. I was made to stop doing this which really upset me. So talk with your manager and HR and discuss possibilities. It is good to get out and meet people. However obviously if people are coughing and passing bugs around you need to be careful.
All the best.
Just eat as healthily as possible. Dont take any supplements without checking with the oncologist as some things interfere with the treatment. Get plenty of sleep. Carry on with your life as best you can but rest when you need to. Stay away from crowds and anyone with an infection as your immunity will be low. Have a Picc line because it's hard for nurses to find a vein during chemo. You'll be given lots of information to follow. I wish you the very best of luck! xxx
Hi, I was lucky as I was able to work from home and be flexible on my hours, so I could continue working, though I think my oncologist thought I was a bit mad, but the normality of work kept me sane. I walked as much as I could and I am sure this helped and I didn't have a lot of fatigue.
I blogged throughout treatment, this one might be useful for you. Chemo blog link
