I have now had two cycles of Paclitaxel and had an allergic reaction to both. The second reaction was definitely worse than the first and included flushing, tightness of the chest, sweating, etc.
It was treated very quickly and after oxygen, more steroids and antihistamines everything was fine.
I am now somewhat apprehensive about the next cycle, will preventative treatment automatically be given or should I speak to my oncologist.
My nurse on the Chemo unit said she would discuss my medication with Doctor but I am still concerned.
I would also ask them if it would be beneficial to switch to NAB-Paclitaxel. It’s the same chemo drug in a different suspension. I think a lot of reactions are to the suspension the standard version is in.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission
After my 3rd cycle being stopped due to reacting again I will now start Paclitaxel albumin-bound on Monday for my last 2 cycles. Due to the additional cost the Oncologist needed to prove I really needed it before she could prescribe it.
