Hello. I'm 3 weeks post lumpectomy and am seeing the oncologist on Monday before I start Letrozole and radiotherapy etc. My cancer is hormone receptive. I am expecting be told I need my mirena taken out (ugh) and wondered if any of you were also told this? Or perhaps told you could keep it in? Thank you. This forum is so helpful x
Hello
I don’t know if it’s standard procedure to have it removed or not. The gynaecologist I saw said he was 100% certain it would make no difference what so ever if had it removed or not to the cancer. The Oncologist disagreed.
I was told that under no circumstances could I keep the marina coil in because I have hormone receptive cancer.
it had been in for nine years and I was hoping to never have to have it removed. not an option.
So sorry to give you bad news
Sending virtual hugs and support x
I had the mirena coil and my cancer is hormone fed.
My oncologist also said to me i could not keep it and had to get it removed, which I did straight away.
