Oncotype score and chemo.

Hello,  oh I can certainly understand how you must feel as you are just 1 number away from the possibility of chemo.  Nobody wants chemo but in your situation with age of 36 I think a discussion is needed.   If you know all the pros and cons you will feel more comfortable about making your decision.  Wishing you the best of everything and hugs to you.  

It's so hard to think if I don't am I putting myself at risk I think I will definitely be discussing it with the oncologist thank you for your reply xx

I'm quite sure any oncologist will advise chemo for someone of your age, regardless of the oncotype score. Good luck!

Hi I understand your worries about the oncotype. I have just finished treatment and I had 8 cycles of chemo and 15 radiotherapy sessions. My oncotype came back at 16 and was told I didn’t need chemo, however I pushed the doc to tell me if there was any risk to me not having chemo and he said it was very ‘minimal’ so I insisted on having chemo. For me it was the right decision as a different doc looked at it and I was at a higher risk with an aggressive cancer. If you aren’t sure ask to have the oncotype results explained to you in detail.

It’s so difficult to understand the ins and outs of how they  make their decisions. Best of luck with your treatment.

Thanks so much for your reply I have an appointment with the oncologist on Wednesday so will definitely ask her to explain everything to me regarding risk etc and see what she says x
