Hello Fellow Travellers
I hope you're all as well as can be...
I recently completed chemotherapy and breast radiotherapy and I'm planning a sunny holiday next month.
The radiographer stressed the importance of sun protection of the radiotherapy area. She suggested SPF50 and keeping the area covered with clothing whilst in the sun.
I'm Black and have never used sun cream. Anyone have any suggestions of brands for ultra sensitive skin please?
Also, has anyone discovered brands of swimwear, which cover the upper half, they'd recommend? I have seen some swim t-shirts which I'm going to try and I've also seen the wetsuit style tops, has anyone tried these?
Please share your stories of how you've managed in the sun post treatment.
Peaceful weekend to all. Shaka
Hi there, do they have black girl sunscreen brand where you live? It is a great sunscreen no white cast. The black girl one for kids is what we use. We are white but just a terrific sunscreen for all. Don’t forget a real wide brim hat and UPF clothing. Coolibar has great hats and clothes. Balaeft has nice clothes too . I get online. Have fun on trip. I live in Florida and fair skinned so sunscreen everyday.
The Black Girl for kids is broad spectrum and water resistant too.

Hi Barbara
Thanks so much for your reply and your tips.
I'm in England, I've checked and it looks like the Black Girl Sunscreen is available here.
I'll check out the clothing lines you mentioned too. Looks like my sun worshipping is about to get different!
I definitely hope to have fun. It's been a while since I've had a holiday.
Thanks again
Thanks Barbara, that's great. It looks like I can get it on Amazon over here. Sunshine here I come!
I’m about to go on my 1st post treatment sun holiday . It’s 8 months post radio . I have vitiligo , so I haven’t been a sunworshipper for a while .
You can get long sleeve swimsuits . I’m sure marks and Spencer did them . Have a look in the internet . I’m ultra careful now as I was diagnosed with breast edema last year , so I’ll be in the shade anyway !
Yeah for you. Here is a picture of me all protected from the sun. Have a wonderful vacation!!
Barbara
You're looking good Barbara! I love your hat.
I'll be in your neck of the woods braving the sun again in June. My childhood friend lives in Florida and we're celebrating our 60th Birthday together.
Peace, Shaka
