I found out last Tuesday that it was a 99% chance that I have breast cancer (waiting on the biopsy results) and I have been given an appointment for Thursday to discuss a treatment plan. Is there anything that I should be asking?  I know that I want a double mastectomy given that I have quite a few cysts n the other breast and want to eliminate any further risk.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.

  • Things moved very quickly for me. Like you they didn’t confirm but they were 95% sure.

I had appointment following week and it was confirmed. Think your treatment will depend on what kind of breast cancer it is ( who knew there were so many different types)

My next appointment was with oncologist and she was great and explained everything and because I refused chemo, next appointment was with surgeon, lumpectomy followed and luckily nothing in my lymph nodes. I start radiotherapy in a couple of weeks and hopefully that will eradicate any other cells that may be there.

i would have had mastectomy if surgeon had thought it necessary but he didn’t and is happy that he has got all the cancer

hope all goes well for you

  • Thank you for that,  hope your radiotherapy goes well x

  • Hi, sorry to hear your news

i think the waiting to find out your diagnosis and treatment plan is the worst but each test gets the team closer to determining the best treatment plan for you.

things that are important are what type of bc is it and if it’s HER positive ( this may take a few weeks to get the result) as these will help determine your treatment plan eg chemo or no chemo

If possible I would try to take each appointment at a time.

    best wishes
